कराचीपाकिस्तानी क्रिकेट टीम के पूर्व कप्तान इंजमाम-उल-हक ने मामले पर अपनी राय रखी है। इंजमाम ने पूर्व तेज गेंदबाज के उस दावे कि कुछ पाकिस्तानी क्रिकेटर प्रतिबंधित स्पिनर दानिश कनेरिया के साथ हिंदू होने के कारण उनके साथ भोजन भी नहीं कर सकते थे, पर अपनी राय जाहिर की। इंजमाम ने ऐसी किसी बात से इनकार करते हुए कहा कि पाकिस्तान में लोगों का दिल बड़ा होता है। इंजमाम ने अपने यू-ट्यूब चैनल पर कहा, 'कनेरिया सबसे ज्यादा मेरी कप्तानी में खेले और मुझे अपनी टीम में कभी ऐसा व्यवहार देखने को नहीं मिला। मैंने कभी यह नहीं महसूस किया कि किसी खिलाड़ी के उसके गैर-मुस्लिम होने के कारण गलत व्यवहार किया गया हो।' इसे भी पढ़ें- उन्होंने आगे कहा, 'मैं दानिश कनेरिया के उस दावे को स्वीकार नहीं करता कि हम छोटे दिल के लोग होते हैं... मुझे लगता है कि पाकिस्तानियों का दिल बड़ा होता है और हम किसी को अपने दिल से स्वीकार करते हैं।' इंजमाम ने आगे कहा, 'मुश्ताक अहमद मेरे बचपन का अच्छा दोस्त था लेकिन मैंने दानिश कनेरिया को मौका दिया क्योंकि वह पाकिस्तान का भविष्य था और मुश्ताक को मेरी ही कप्तानी में ड्रॉप किया गया। तो ऐसी कोई चीज नहीं है कि खिलाड़ी को तभी चुना जात है अगर वह नमाज पढ़ता है।' कनेरिया ने शनिवार को कहा था कि अगर पाकिस्तानी सरकार ने इस मामले पर सम्मान कार्रवाई नहीं की तो दुनिया को यह साबित करने का मौका मिल जाएगा कि उनके साथ भेदभाव हुआ है। इसे भी पढ़ें- इंजमाम ने इस दावे से इनकार करते हुए कहा, 'मैं आपको यहां उदाहरण देता हूं। यूसुफ हमारी टीम में था। वह गैर-मुस्लिम था लेकिन अल्लाह के फजल से मुसलमान बन गया और मोहम्मद यूसुफ हो गया। उन्होंने भी धर्म-परिवर्तन से पहले ऐसी कोई चीज महसूस नहीं की।' उन्होंने कहा, '2004 में भारतीय टीम पाकिस्तानी टीम 15 साल बाद पाकिस्तान आई और हमारे देश के लोगों ने अपने दिल उनके सामने बिछा दिए। जहां भी वे गए उनसे खाने, शॉपिंग और टैक्सी वालों ने भी पैसे नहीं लिए।' इंजमाम ने कहा, 'एक साल बाद हमारी टीम ने भारत का दौरा किया, उस दौरे पर भी मैं ही टीम का कप्तान था। हमें भी वहां से उसी तरह का व्यवहार मिला। उन्होंने अपने घर के दरवाजे खोल दिए कि आप हमारे मेहमान हो आप हमारे घरों में रहो। उन्होंने हमारे खिलाड़ियों को खाना बनाकर खिलाया और शॉपिंग के पैसे नहीं लिए।' इसे भी पढ़ें- अपने विडियो में पाकिस्तान के सबसे सफल बल्लेबाजों में शुमार इंजमाम ने कहा कि दोनों ओर अवाम के बीच काफी मोहब्बतें हैं और मैं नहीं समझता कि इस तरह की चीज मुमकिन है कि किसी खिलाड़ी के लिए हमारा दिल इतना तंग हो जाए। उस वक्त टीम का कप्तान था और यह बात सच नहीं है। इंजमाम ने कहा जहां तक साथ खाना न खाने की बात को पसंद न करना है तो 2005 में भारत दौरे से पहले मैं शूटिंग के सिलसिले में कोलकाता गया। उन्होंने कहा, 'पाकिस्तान की ओर से मैं था और भारत की ओर से कप्तान सौरभ गांगुली। वहां सौरभ ने एक रेस्तरां खोला था जिसका सचिन और मैंने उद्घाटन किया था। सौरभ मुझे दोनों वक्त का खाना अपने रेस्तरां से भिजवाता था।' इंजमाम ने कहा कि शारजाह में भी दोनों टीमों के खिलाड़ी साथ बैठकर खाया करते थे और एक-दूसरे के कमरों में बैठकर गप्पें लगाया करते थे।
